Words of Support from a Basically Wonderful Group Member
Our grassroots organization has impacted so many lives across the globe! Since we started, we’ve connected with over a thousand people through our groups, community events, outreach & tabling, and collaborations with other organizations.
Basically Wonderful has proven how necessary our peer-led spaces are in the world; we've reached participants from over 6 different countries, and over 15 states across the USA by offering virtual gatherings. We are proud to be curating impactful spaces for Queer Trans and Disabled folks to find belonging and support.
As a grassroots organization, we rely on community contribution to help keep us afloat. Donate to support the creation and continuation of our peer-led spaces!
“BW acts as a 3rd place - a place of comfort away from home (or at home, if it’s virtual.) I love how upfront & visible y’all’s support is for all marginalized groups, I’ve never had to question if I felt welcomed or not in a BW space.”
"Basically Wonderful is a healing, healthy, and comforting space for all who enter it. It's a greatly needed space and community for disabled QTPOC that has changed my life."
“It’s really special to be in a space and have it be fine to just… be. And the covid precautions make me feel safe and protected by community.”
“BW is one of very few local orgs still practicing covid precautions, which helps make it more accessible to me + provides a sense of community with folks who care about immunocompromised comrades like myself. Having community events that center queer liberation and disability justice is fulfilling and restorative and helps me make space for queer and disabled joy in my life!”
“Basically Wonderful highlights accessibility in way that also centers queer joy and connection. I participate in these spaces because I always feel like I’m in a space that challenges me, and it shows me that an accessible world IS possible if we’re willing to put in the work. I love how much BW truly focuses on what community needs are and finds unique ways to meet those needs.”
“BW helps me have community that would otherwise be hard to have because I'm isolated at home a lot as a disabled person. I enjoy and value having spaces to talk freely about being disabled and queer. Basically Wonderful lets me talk about the intersection between those identities and how they make me see and experience the world, positively and negatively. I like to participate in Basically Wonderful spaces to support and be supported by people in my communities. I believe we are stronger together and need a space to talk to grow.”
