Basically Wonderful is proud to introduce Growing Roots, an initiative dedicated to supporting the grassroots work being done in Central Florida. There are so many local groups and organizations with monumental programs that aim to provide mutual aid, resources, and community-driven care -- and we want to amplify them and connect our work.

The Growing Roots Initiative seeks to guide Basically Wonderful towards true community building and intersectional care work by investing in the grassroots efforts created by people we believe in and encouraging our comrades to get involved. We are planting roots in our community and growing towards a collective solidarity that allows us to nurture our networks and meet each other’s needs.

What sort of groups and organizations will you be supporting?

We're prioritizing supporting grassroots organization that provide mutual aid, resources, and community-driven care and solidarity.

Do your events cost money to attend?

No, our events are always free to attend. Sometimes, though, there may be a suggested donation or a fundraiser included at the event - but you're never required to donate to join.

Are the Growing Roots events virtual or in-person?

Potentially a mix of both, though we will be prioritizing in-person events hosted in Central Florida. Any in-person events will require masks to participate.

How do I let you know about my accessibility needs?

Do you have any events outside of this initiative?

Yes! We host an array of Peer-Led Groups and Community Events.

I'm not queer, trans, or disabled - can I still attend these events?

Usually, yes! We welcome allies at most of our initiative events. There may be exceptions on occasion, so please make sure to read through each individual event descriptions.

Is there an age limit to attend?

Generally, our Growing Roots events are family-friendly, and there is no minimum or maximum age to attend! If an event happens to be age-restricted, we will include that disclaimer in the individual event description.
